I myself once moved to the Netherlands from Tanzania, and it was a world of difference.
Everything was different: from the way people interacted with each other to arranging the smallest daily things.
In the nine years I spent in the Netherlands, I learned a lot about Dutch culture and customs.
When I returned to Tanzania a few years ago, it again felt like a culture shock.
Although I spoke the official language and was familiar with local life, it took some getting used to again.

Now that I have been back for several years and have developed as a true Dutchman in the Netherlands, I continue to be amazed at how different things are here in Tanzania.
Especially since I still have family in the Netherlands who visit regularly, I keep seeing the differences between the two worlds.
Tanzania, with its millions of inhabitants and diverse population, much of which is Muslim, offers unique challenges and opportunities.
Therefore, it is enormously helpful to make use of my knowledge, experience, cultural insights, and, of course, my language skills.

  Swahili is the official language, and although English is often spoken, it is not always sufficient to properly understand the nuances of contracts and daily interactions.
  Learning a new language such as Swahili is possible but will take time.
• Arranging Housing:
  Finding safe and suitable housing can be tricky, especially if you don’t know the local markets.
  Consider understanding local rules for such things as car age requirements if you want to rent a car with a driver.
• Insurance and Finance:
  Understanding and arranging local insurance and bank accounts, and how this fits within international standards, such as for international workers and foreign investors.
• Education and Child Care:
  Finding a good international school or local options that match your home country’s curriculum, for example, a suitable high school.
